AIRPORT TRAIL
TUNNEL UPDATE
On March 18, 2008, I hosted a Stakeholder Group meeting to discuss the implications for area businesses, communities and individuals should construction of the new airport runway proceed without an east-west tunnel connecting Airport Trail (96th Avenue NE). The meeting was well attended by representatives from Community Association Boards, Developers and Business Associations. Art Hanger, MP for Calgary Northeast and Devinder Shory, Federal Conservative Candidate Elect for Calgary Northeast attended as did Ward 10 Alderman Andre Chabot. My intent at this meeting was to ensure that the Stakeholders are aware of the current situation and to get feedback as to what the impacts might be and how best to proceed. I am meeting jointly with the three levels of government and the Calgary Airport Authority in late April and will provide an update in the next edition of this Newsletter and on the Ward 3 website at www.ward3calgary.ca

INFINIT AIR – DIRECT SERVICE FROM BONNYVILLE TO CALGARY
I was pleased to participate in the arrival celebration of the inaugural flight of Infinit Air’s direct service from Bonnyville to Calgary. Infinit Air will be offering 5 non-stop flights weekly to meet the growing need for this service.

SPRING CLEAN-UP:
CALGARY ROADS
From mid-April through mid-June, City crews will be removing the sanding materials and other debris that have accumulated on roads and along major sidewalks and boulevards during the winter months. Crews will be working in residential areas during normal business hours and on major roadways 24-7. Along with esthetic and safety considerations, this clean up is necessary to lower the potential for water pollution by preventing harmful run-off into the storm water system and to reduce air pollution by eliminating dust and debris that would be made airborne by moving traffic. To find out when this will take place in your community you can visit www.calgary.ca/roads or call 3-1-1.
