I am pleased with the new magazine and we have had many comments from residents about the reinstate of the community newsletter. The
As the newly elected board starts the term for the next year we will be hosting several community events and will be continuing on with many projects that we have started.
It was with great pleasure that I gave an interview to Global TV on Feb. 6 at our Martindale rink regarding the 5 million donation from Genesis Land Corporation. This donation will allow the NECCS to start the important fundraising campaign to get our building started. As president of Martindale I have worked on the NECCS with Kelly Jones and now Amandeep Khangura. There are many more hours of meetings to complete and many more tasks to start before the construction starts, however we are getting closer everyday and the prospect of the new Genesis Wellness Community Centre is very exciting. The community of Martindale has contributed $216,000.00 toward the new center. This was approved by Alberta Gaming as it is coming from our casino money that we have raised over the last 5-7 years. This contribution would not have been possible without the volunteers every year that keep our community going.
We are a great community to live in and I feel we have lots going for us.
We have worked collaboratively with City of Calgary, YMCA Calgary, Taradale, Saddle Ridge and Calgary Soccer to continue this project. Help us “Complete the Dream Together” to finalize our building. We will be continuing the fundraising and if you can donate time or money we are interested in hearing from you. You can contact us thru the community email martindale_community@yahoo.ca or the phone numbers in the contact list.
I personally would like to thank all the new and returning board members for their contribution to our community. Come out and join us at a community event this year.
