Hear that train a coming?!

By Dave Brown

CTrain Service finally arrives at McKnight Westwinds. It was quite a day, a few years of working with the City and various partners a new CTrain station was opened. The CTrain saga started with Alderman John Schmal, went through the paces with Alderman Larocque and ended with Alderman Jim Stevenson as the MC for the day. MP Art Hanger was there, MLA Shiraz Shariff, Premiere Ed Stelmach, Alderman Andre Chabot, and Ray Jones. Also in attendance were various members of the communities of Saddle Ridge, Martindale, Falconridge/Castleridge, Taradale all of whom worked with the City to create the CTrain station design that you see today. It was quite an experience and one that I am proud to say I was a part of. This service should really help the residents of Saddle Ridge in their commute to work. Saddle Ridge can look forward in the next 3 to four years for their own station in Saddletowne Circle. It was great to see the station crammed with people on the platform when the train arrived. It was great to be on that first inaugural ride from the Whitehorn Station, and I didn’t even need a ticket to ride.

  1. I’m very happy that the C-Train has now come closer to home. It makes such a huge difference, at least once I figure out which bus to take. I ran across to the new Saddle Ridge Safeway the other day to grab a Starbucks and a sandwich, then walked across the street to hop on the bus before heading downtown…I was there before I realized it! Now my only question is how long until it will show up in Saddle Ridge? I’ve heard some questions about it and thought there was more information to be found, but I can’t find it anywhere.
