Vice-President’s Message – Taradale

By Khalil Karbani

A very warm welcome to a new year and all the prospects it may bring. This is our very first edition of “Community Connection” for Taradale. We are very excited to be a part of this newsletter and a full-fledged community association. We are still in our early stages, but our sense of community is very strong. There are a small group of dedicated volunteers working hard to keep Taradale Community Association alive and well. We have had tremendous support from our neighbours at both Saddle Ridge and Martindale Community Associations, so a big thank you goes out to them.

As many residents have noticed, our community just keeps growing and getting better everyday. We are blessed to have so many new businesses and facilities opening in our neighbourhood. The face of the North East is changing dramatically and attracting people from all over the city and the country for that matter.

We have seen lots of new development on Saddletowne Circle, like the Shoppers Drug Mart and the opening of a brand new Safeway. December rang in the opening of the McKnight/Westwinds LRT station which community members of Saddle Ridge and Martindale were instrumental in shaping the station’s image. We hardly have to venture out of our own community for any of our needs, which gives us all a great sense of pride.

On behalf of the Taradale Community Association, we would like to wish you and your families all the best in 2008 and if there is anything that we can do as a community
association please do not hesitate to contact us at taradaleca@shaw.ca.
