Feel the Fear and do it anyway
Have you ever felt like your life was spiraling out of control? Like you just wanted someone to stop the planet from spinning so you could get off? I have been through a lot of that recently. The only thing that kept me going was my faith that my world was being shaken up for a good reason. Read the rest of this entry »

Shotz :: Photo Tips from a Pro #4
Capturing the motion
Have you ever found yourself looking at your photos, or perhaps someone else’s and thought that no matter how nice they are, an entire series of shots can all look the same? In this month’s article, I hope to share some simple tricks and tips to help make each of your photos stand out from the others. First things first, make sure your camera has a manual flash and a timer. Check your camera’s settings or manual if you aren’t sure. A tripod or a flat surface with a view of your subject are “nice things to have” to make these tips even more useful too. It’s possible to hold the camera yourself to take these pictures; however no matter how steady you believe your hands to be, they are more likely to be camera shake.

Please think of your pets during this time of turmoil. Following are a few helpful tips for before, during and after the big move.

$216,472 to NECCS. With this donation, Martindale has exceeded its commitment to match some of the funds received from the province and we are most appreciative of their continuing support of this project.
In late March, there was also a major corporate fund-raising event held by our funding partner, Genesis Land Development. On the night of the event itself, over $130,000 was raised and Genesis will follow up with many of their partners to increase this total significantly in the coming months. As always, we would like to thank Genesis and our fund development committee for all their hard work in bringing us ever closer to our $15M fund-raising goal for our Genesis Centre of Community Wellness.

Police and communities working together
Did you know that every community in the city has a police officer who’s dedicated to helping resolve community safety and security issues? Since 1998, each of Calgary’s policing districts has designated several “community liaison officers” who work with Calgarians every day to help keep this city safe.
The new Taradale elementary school
As many residents are well aware of the new school being built in Taradale on Taravista Drive and Taradale Road. There has been tremendous progress made with the construction from the time they started grading the land last August. The boundaries for the playing fields are already in place, and on a nice day you will see many local children having a friendly game of soccer. Taradale has many young families living within its borders and the new school will just be the icing on the cake for us here. It will further unite our community and give us a focal point for our children.
